About the artist

According to the artist‘s own words, the work of Mohammed Laouli is the starting point of an endogenous analysis that consists of decomposing the world around him, in order to arrive at a total dissection, an inventory. It explores the phenomena that cross, differentiate or mark society. While his thought process bears the imprint of political commitment, Laouli‘s approach is non-discursive. He does not pretend to be a counselor, a professor or a politician. At first glance, he simply seeks to explore his vision and consciousness, from moment to moment, traveling through the streets, the structures and the wastelands. At the same time, his approach includes a second perspective, a critical regard on the political, cultural and economic systems of power that surround him, especially the postcolonial relations between France and Morocco.
